Italian Institute of Culture, Park Avenue, New York, December 3, 2008, through January 7, 2009
From December 3, 2008, through January 7, 2009, the Italian Institute of Culture, in New York, became a corner of the Vatican. Scrinium presented at the Italian Institute of Culture’s Park Avenue headquarters, for the first time anywhere in the world, the show entitled Ancient Codex and Documents, which comprised all the extraordinary works produced by Scrinium for the Vatican Secret Archives, the Apostolic Library and the Vatican Museums. These works, true gems of publishing and of art, were produced in partnership with the Vatican’s major cultural institutions. They are included among the finest publications in the most important public and private collections and libraries located all around the world.
The initiative was promoted by the Italian Institute of Culture, in New York, with the support of Scrinium and the sponsorship of Italy’s Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities, the Foundation for the Church’s Artistic Heritage and Activities, the Veneto Region and the City of Venice.
The speakers at the presentation included Dr. Renato Miracco, director of the Italian Institute of Culture; Dr. Ferdinando Santoro, president of Scrinium; Prof. Giovanni Morello, art historian and president of the Foundation for the Church’s Artistic Heritage and Activities; and Dr. Danilo Riponti, a specialist in the history of the orders of knighthood.
